When You Lose Someone

When I was in high school my closest friend lost her brother in a car accident. I can still see that moment in my mind like it was yesterday. It’s very difficult to watch someone who is that close to you go through losing a loved one. You always want to help in those situations but finding a way to do that is not always easy.

Quite a few years later I was on a songwriting trip in Nashville writing with my good friend Adam Wheeler. I told him about my friend and her brother and explained to Adam that I wanted to write a song that could potentially help people thru difficult times of losing a loved one by giving them strength to help with the healing process.

Losing someone close to you isn't an easy thing to deal with, but we all have or will at some point in our lives. The ones we love don't go away. They walk beside us. Still loved, still missed. I wrote this song to comfort the ones left behind.

This is one of the songs I’m most proud of writing. I hope it brings you strength and allows you to find peace.

I’M OKAY (Lyrics)

Would've have said goodbye if I knew I was going
Would've have hugged you twice but no one saw it coming
Now I hear you telling God that it’s not fair
And I know you're wondering how I’m doing here

I miss you but not that much
‘Cause I’m still with you I'm just not close enough
To reach out and wipe away the lonely tear that’s
Rolling down your face
This is me telling you through a song
I’m Okay

So go on with your life don’t waste another moment
Sleep in peace tonight and wake up tomorrow knowing
That you’re free to feel the sun and smile again
I’ll meet you down the road but until then

I miss you but not that much
‘Cause I’m still with you I'm just not close enough
To reach out and wipe away the lonely tear that’s
Running down your face
This is me telling you through a song
I'm Okay
